Awards and scholarships at Victoria Business School

There is a range of scholarships and awards available for students studying at Victoria University at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

To browse all scholarship opportunities available to students you will need to access the Victoria University scholarships database.

There are also opportunities specifically for our Commerce students such as internships and competitions, plus scholarships including:

Dean's List

The Dean's List celebrates excellence in academic achievement for those students enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme at Victoria University of Wellington. It is prepared by each Faculty and will normally include only students registered in qualifications offered by that Faculty.

To qualify, students must

  • be enrolled for at least 100 undergraduate points taken over a period that begins in Trimester Three of the previous year and ends at the conclusion of Trimester Two of the current year
  • achieve a grade point average of 7.5 or higher
  • not fail any of their courses during the period of study

Excellence Awards

As part of the annual May graduation ceremonies, we celebrate the top graduating students across our six schools at the Victoria Business School Excellence Awards.

Prizes are awarded to our 'best and brightest' undergraduates, with the event also acknowledging our top Master’s students and the Dean's Awards for excellence in PhD research.

Dean’s Award for Doctoral Achievement

This award was initially instituted in the Faculty to recognise excellence in the quality of research and writing in the very best of our doctoral theses each year. Since December 2017, PhD students have been being recognised as part of a wider Victoria University awards ceremony managed by the Faculty of Graduate Research.

Victoria Business School PhD graduate Dr Clare Markham, now lecturing in the School of Accounting and Commercial Law, was acknowledged for her thesis entitled No More Than Comfort? A Logics Approach to the 'Grip' of Cost-Benefit Analysis in a New Zealand Public Policy Decision, which was supervised by Professors Judy Brown, Trevor Hopper, and Ian Eggleton.
