Introduction

Arun is the Associate Dean, International and Accreditation. His main research interests are in the areas of stakeholder management, systems thinking and modelling, and environmental conflict management.

Arun's PhD was on the analysis of stakeholder dynamics in environmental conflicts, using a systems thinking and modelling approach. He used the Wellington Transmission Gully motorway project as a case study. Arun completed his PhD under the supervision of Dr Bob Cavana of Decision Sciences and Dr Laurie Jackson of Environmental Studies.

Arun has two Masters degrees, in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and in Agricultural Engineering from Allahabad University, India.He has worked in industry as an Industrial Engineer with the Indian industrial giant, Tata Iron and Steel Company; in academia as a lecturer with Allahabad University; and in R & D as an Agro specialist in Sustainable Agriculture with UPASI (an Indian NGO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Pro Vice-Chancellor with strategic, financial and business planning, and undertake strategic projects as directed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor;
  • In collaboration with Victoria International, lead the development and management of the Faculty’s international programmes and partnerships, and promote activities that increase international student enrolments;
  • In collaboration with Victoria International, Student Academic Services, and Student Recruitment, to promote suitable programmes and partnerships with overseas universities and agencies to promote international student enrolments in VBS programmes;
  • Chair the VBS Accreditation Committee and ensure processes are designed and operated to achieve and maintain VBS international and professional accreditation requirements;
  • Manage and work with the Accreditation & Business Analyst to support VBS’ accreditation ambitions and requirements;
  • Ensure the Accreditation Committee includes other faculty and programme-specific accreditation requirements and that processes are in place to undertake activities to satisfy these accreditation requirements;
  • Ensure relevant recommendations from Faculty programme reviews that impinge on VBS programme accreditations and international enrolments are implemented;
  • Deputise for the Pro Vice-Chancellor as required, including on appointment committees.
