History or background of award
This award, established through the generosity of Margaret Nielsen (who retired from the Victoria School
of Music staff in 1995.
Purpose of award
To assist students beginning study for a BMus in classical musical performance at the New Zealand School of Music.
The Scholarship shall be awarded annually to a student beginning a BMus in Classical Musical Performance, on the basis of musical ability and financial need.
How do students apply?
Online application will be available approximately one month prior to the closing date.
Will take the form of a grant of $1,500 towards the cost of University studies for a
student beginning a BMus in musical performance (Classical).
The selection panel will consist of representatives of the New Zealand School of Music.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
In any year preference may be given to a student studying a particular instrument or instruments nominated by the Head of School.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Recipients are required to write a letter of thanks to the donor on receipt of the award and to provide an end of year progress report if requested.
