History or background of award
The New Zealand Society for Music Therapy (Music Therapy New Zealand) wishes to honour the late Sir Roy McKenzie a long term benefactor to music therapy in New Zealand, by offering scholarship for students studying the Master of Music Therapy degree.
Purpose of award
The scholarship is for students studying the Master of Music Therapy degree.
The scholarship is open to:
* Students who have completed the first year of the Master of Music Therapy degree and who intend to enrol in the second year of this programme; and/or
* Students who have completed the second year of Master of Music Therapy degree and who is eligible to register for PhD studies.
* Person who has a close professional association with the Master of Music Therapy course at the New Zealand School of Music and who intends to pursue further qualification at New Zealand School of Music.
Applicants can be enrolled full-time of part-time. Applicants must also be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
How do students apply?
An online application will be available approximately one month before the next closing date.
The successful applicant shall be selected by a panel of appropriate New Zealand School of Music staff.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
•The scholarship shall be awarded on academic merit and on the recommendation of the scholarship selection committee.
•The scholarship monies shall be paid in two equal instalments in April and August upon satisfactory progress reports from the scholar’s supervisor.
•The McKenzie Music Therapy Scholarship may be held concurrently with any other bursary or scholarship provided the rules applicable to the other scholarship or bursary permit the recipient to hold another scholarship. The recipient will be known by the University as a McKenzie Scholar.
•The selection panel may refrain from making an award in the event of there being no suitable applicants or insufficient funds.
