Hunter Postgraduate Scholarship

History and purpose

The Hunter Scholarships Fund was established by the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation in 2004 to celebrate the centenary of our magnificent Hunter Building.

This scholarship is to encourage and support students to pursue postgraduate study at Victoria University of Wellington. The scholarship will be awarded as a fees contribution to the top ranked applicant across all disciplines who applied but does not receive a Wellington Master's by Thesis Scholarship.

Who is eligible?

• All applicants who have applied and submitted an application for the Wellington Master's by Thesis Scholarship will be considered.

Selection criteria

• Applicants must meet the requirements to apply for the Wellington Master's by Thesis Scholarship.
• Applicants must apply and submit an application for the Wellington Master's by Thesis Scholarship to study at Victoria University of Wellington.

Selection process

The successful recipient will be selected by the University Scholarships Committee, a sub-committee of the University Research Committee.

No application required.

Regulations and conditions

• The scholarship may only be paid as a fees contribution.
• Each scholarship recipient and his/her principal supervisor shall provide a progress report to the Scholarships Office six months after the commencement of the scholarship.
• Where progress is not satisfactory, the matter will be referred to the University Scholarships Committee.
• The University Scholarships Committee may at any time suspend or terminate a scholarship, or require the forfeiture of such proportion of the scholarship emolument as it may determine, if the scholarship recipient is not diligently pursuing their programme of research, has violated the University Statute on Conduct, or has failed to comply with any of the terms and conditions on which the scholarship was awarded.
