Getting to Kelburn campus on the day
Check your transport options for getting to the Kelburn campus on the day and look out for our student ambassadors who can show you where to go.
Getting to and from the Kelburn campus
The main entrances to the Kelburn campus are on Kelburn Parade.
If you’re not sure where to start, enter through Gate 3 and come to the Hub. You’ll find lots of Open Day activities and student ambassadors (in ASK ME t-shirts) will be there to show you where to go. Download a map of Kelburn campus.
By cable car
It’s a 10 minute walk from the cable car Salamanca (University) stop to the Gate 3 entrance of the Kelburn campus. See the Wellington Cable Car for timetables and fares.
By school bus
Your school will arrange drop-off and pick-up points for you. These will most likely be around Kelburn Parade. Enter through Gate 3.
There is no onsite parking available for school buses so you will need to ensure your bus company has somewhere to go during the day.
From the railway station
Student ambassadors will be waiting near the main entrance of the railway station in the morning. They’ll guide you to our free buses going directly to Kelburn campus that will be running every 15 minutes between 8am and 10am. The buses depart from Rutherford House, Bunny Street (next to the Buzzy Bee signpost).
After 9am you can hop on a looping bus that will stop at key Victoria locations around Wellington.
By public bus
The 18e, 21, 22 and 37 buses stop on Kelburn Parade. See Metlink for timetables and fares.
Due to the lack of parking spaces around the University and heavy traffic, we recommend you don’t bring a car—however, if you do need to drive, there is limited free parking available at our Waiteata Road carpark for the day. Find the Waiteata Road car park on the Kelburn campus map.
From the airport
We will provide transport to the University from Wellington airport in the morning of Open Day. Our staff will be waiting by the baggage claim area with signs and more information about where to go. The buses will be leaving at 7.30am, 8am, 8.30am, 9am, 9.30am and 10am.
