Anny da Silva Freitas
Kia ora, Ola, Hello!
I identify as a Portuguese/Scottish, lesbian, cisgendered female with a leaning towards ‘non-binary’ who now calls Aotearoa New Zealand home. I now live and work in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand, and hail originally from Edinburgh, Scotland (my birthplace). I am a Registered Member of the NZAC (New Zealand Association of Counsellors).
I have a background in health and fitness, having played sport at international level with over twenty years of supporting and working with young people in various settings (youth/community and residential care mainly).
More recently, I have worked with students as a member of Student Counselling—Mauri Ora, Victoria University of Wellington—and previously at Edinburgh University (two years), and as a counselling member of a multi-disciplinary team at Student Health and Counselling at Massey University, Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand (three years).
I would describe my counselling style as client-centred with a focus on three R’s: Respect, Relationship and Resources. I have a particular interest in Humanistic/Mindfulness/CBT/Existential and Narrative Therapies.
Whatever it takes to support the ‘person’ to grow.
