Selection criteria for limited entry programmes

Diplomas, Honours and Master's programmes

Selection into Part 1 of Diplomas, Honours and Master's programmes offered by the Faculty of Science and it's schools is based on academic merit, particularly at 300-level.

Master's by thesis and specialist programmes

In general the selection criteria involve:

  • academic merit
  • relevant experience
  • motivation to do the programme
  • In some programmes applicants may also be interviewed.

Appeals against exclusion

These should be made, in writing, to the Associate Dean (Students) of the Faculty of Science.

Faculty of Engineering selection criteria

Find out what the selection criteria is for entry into the second year of Bachelor of Engineering(Hons) (BE(Hons)) degree.

Selection criteria for second year

Entry into the 300- and 400-level courses in Part 2 of the BE (Hons) requires a B average and the completion of all Part 1 courses, including the requirements for at least one specialisation.

Appeals against exclusion

These should be made, in writing, to the Associate Dean (Students) of the Faculty of Science.
