Peer support groups
The Student Wellbeing Awareness Team have established peer support groups designed and led by current students.
SWAT works in partnership with Kites Trust The Peer Tree, a community of young adults helping one another to navigate their mental wellbeing through groups centred around community and creativity.
SWAT has developed and established a range of different groups run by current students. Our peer leaders receive regular supervision from Kites Trust’s Youth Peer Support Coordinator and guidance from Student Counselling’s Wellbeing Advisor to facilitate their groups.
SWAT have developed groups including:
Story Craft—a fun community centred around creative writing.
Nourish—a space for students to learn new cooking skills, share food, create recipes and learn balanced eating.
Face-Up—enabling lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) students to express positivity through skin care and make up.
PhD Peer Support Group—an opportunity for PhD students to share tips, motivation and hear new perspectives while making new friends.
