Student Learning

Student Learning is actively involved in first year orientation and contributes to programmes such as Halls Headstart and Smart Start. We also offer two orientation programmes of our own for students to learn or refresh study skills.

If you are planning to start tertiary study, or are returning to study after a break, the Student Learning University Preparation Programme (Uni Prep) offers you an opportunity to brush up skills and gain confidence before the semester begins. The programme can assist you with:

  • introductory study skills

  • essay writing skills

  • searching databases

  • basic statistics

  • basic mathematics

  • chemistry laboratory skills

The Uniprep courses charge a small fee. Below is the timetable for 2018.

Smart Start offers you a free opportunity to learn about academic study and improve your academic writing before lectures start. It also offers you an opportunity to meet other new university students.

These interactive sessions are designed to build your confidence and give you a head start with your studies at Victoria.
