The Working Capital project is a part of a collaboration supporting the development of industry forums, networking events and research publications aimed at developing a thriving economy and addressing the issues currently affecting Wellington's labour market.

    This report is based on nearly 90 interviews conducted by students from the School of Management with Wellington managers, human resource specialists and recent graduates at a cross-section of businesses and public sector and not-for-profit organisations.
  • Wellington's Digital Sector: Growing under the radar pdf530KB
    This report reveals Wellington's ‘nearly invisible’ digital sector, based on interviews conducted by students from Victoria University of Wellington's School of Management of 140 business owners, managers and employees from 50 Wellington digital companies during late 2014. This report explores challenges faced by companies in attracting, retaining and developing staff and its author Dr Richard Norman notes that the pioneers of Wellington’s digital sector, Trade Me, Xero and Datacom, have been joined by 400 to 500 smaller companies during the last 10 years.
