At the School of Management we place high priority on generating leading edge research as reflected in the School's strong track record of international publications and externally-funded grants and projects.
Our focus on producing high-quality, original research enables us to offer substantial value to our key stakeholders, be they students, executives, community and organizational leaders or international researchers and scholars. It provides our researchers with the platform to better analyze current and conventional management and organizational practices and to move creatively to new knowledge and understanding.
The School of Management's active research environment can be seen in the wide range of research interests and publications on individual staff pages, and is demonstrated by their participation in major and specialist research projects. Our staff's innovative research has been recognised in Marsden Grants. Furthermore, the Centre for Labour, Employment and Work (CLEW) is a leading body in New Zealand on employment relations, the labour market and workplace issues.
The School of Management hosts regular Research Seminars and has a Working Paper Series. We also offer an active PhD programme and research training through our Master's (MCom, MTM) and Honours (HRER, MGMT , TOUR ) courses.

Associate Professor Christian Schott, from the Tourism Management Group, discusses the importance of experiential education for fostering meaningful education about sustainability and the impacts of climate change . He explains how he uses Virtual Reality technology to provide experiential learning about sustainability in distant places such as Fiji and Peru, without students leaving their homes.
