The Deloitte Fast 50 annually celebrates 50 New Zealand businesses with the highest revenue growth over the last year and API Talent, which helps move IT applications for other businesses to the Cloud using Amazon Web Services (AWS), received the award for the fastest growing services business.

Wyn attributes his company's success to two key factors.

"Firstly, API is one of the only businesses with a strong focus on AWS, which makes us extremely specialised and knowledgeable. Secondly, my business partner and I share a strong passion for our work. I enjoy the balance between the technical and business management aspects of my job."

Wyn feels that API has passed a lot of milestones since founding the business in 2014—which  many other new businesses don't reach. This has allowed API to grow to its full potential.

He initially considered pursuing his MBA full time, but felt he could not leave API. Instead, he chose to juggle the two commitments and as he approaches the end of his second trimester, says he appreciates his study feeding into his business.

"My MBA mutually reinforces my business management skills and is taking me where I want to be faster."
