Funding for VR Fieldtrip to Peru

Dr Christian Schott is the Principle Investigator for a $178,000 research and education project recently funded by the Centre for Asia-Pacific Excellence - Latin America (LatAm-CAPE)

The Centre for Asia-Pacific Excellence - Latin America (LatAm-CAPE) research and education project is scheduled for 2019 and as well as Dr Christian Schott it includes Dr Andrea Milligan, Associate Professor Stephen Marshall and Jonathan Flutey from Victoria University and Alan Proctor-Thomson from Burnt Pixel.

The project applies the concept of Virtual Situated Experiential Education developed at Victoria University of Wellington in the context of the Sustainable Development Fieldtrip to Fiji to support learning by New Zealand secondary school students about Latin American people, cultures, places, and shared challenges.The project will tell the story of the town of Aguas Calientes and its community at the foothills of the world famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu and conduct research on the impact of the VR learning tool on New Zealand school children and their learning.
