We are very pleased to be hosting a visit from Professor Kenneth G Brown in February next year.Ken is currently editor of Academy of Management Learning & Education, which has an impact factor of 4.800, ranking it 3rd out of 168 journals in Management.

Abstract:

Ken will discuss his perspective on the four types of knowledge faculty should possess in order to be effective teachers. This discussion will include a review of several classic and modern learning theories, and transition to a discussion about why it is useful for management faculty to contribute to the management education literature. Developments at the Academy of Management related to teaching practice, and at the Academy of
Management Learning & Education related to research, will also be discussed.

Bio:

Professor Ken Brown, Ph.D., SPHR, is currently Professor and Henry B. Tippie Research Fellow in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa, USA. He conducts research on learning and motivation in workplace training and development, with an emphasis on technology-mediated learning environments. He also studies the science-practice gap as it relates to Human Resource Management policy and practice. Ken’s published work has appeared in a variety of journals and edited books. He has earned best paper awards from Human Resource Management and the Academy of Management Learning & Education. He is co-author (with Greg Stewart) of a textbook entitled Human Resource Management: Linking Strategy to Practice (2nd ed, Wiley & Sons). Ken is serving or has served on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review, Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Human Resource Development Quarterly, Human Resource Management, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Education, Organization Management Journal, and Personnel Psychology. After serving a term as Associate Editor of Academy of Management Learning & Education from 2009-2011, he was appointed editor in 2012.
