A Zero Carbon Act for New Zealand
Venue: Rutherford House, lecture theatre 2
In this lecture, Mr Upton will discuss his recently released report A Zero Carbon Act for New Zealand. In the report, the Commissioner gave detailed advice to Parliament on plans for a UK-style Zero Carbon Act and independent Climate Commission – a system advocated by his predecessor, Dr Jan Wright. The Commissioner made nine recommendations on what he sees as some of the more critical elements in the formation of the legislation and the ensuing Climate Commission.
Speaker: Simon Upton was sworn in as New Zealand’s fourth Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment in October 2017.
