Honour for Emeritus Professor Peter Thirkell
Emeritus Professor Peter Thirkell was elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) earlier this month.
Emeritus Professor Peter Thirkell is a familiar name at Victoria and has been on the academic staff from 1988 through to 2017.
He played a key role in establishing the School of Marketing and International Business, served as Head of School from 2001-2004, and for three years was Dean of Victoria Business School, finishing up in January 2008. He has also played a part in other university-wide committees.
Professor Thirkell has a long history with ANZMAC, having been part of an informal steering committee with colleagues from New Zealand and Australia who set about creating an annual conference in 1997. The result was the creation of ANZMAC, and its first conference took place in 1998.
In 2007, Professor Thirkell was elected as a Fellow of the Academy in recognition of his contribution to the discipline and the ANZMAC community.
His Honorary Fellowship is further evidence and recognition of his sustained and significant involvement and support over many years of distinguished service. His work has been appreciated at Victoria, and it is gratifying to know that he is being recognised beyond our borders as well.
