SLC students awarded leadership honours

On Tuesday 13 December, students of the School of Languages and Cultures (SLC) were celebrated at the Victoria International Leadership Programme (VILP) awards ceremony.

Victoria University Provost, Professor Wendy Larner, opened the event and the keynote speaker was Pam Bell, Victoria University alumna and CEO of PrefabNZ.  The evening had a strong SLC presence as Eve Bain, BA/LLB with a major in French and a Spanish minor, was one of two student speakers on hand to help congratulate the current cohort of VILP students.

The SLC wishes to honour the achievements of our VILP award-winning students: Lauren Borgas, Jenanne Burnell, Rebekka Evans, Matilda Gaby, Emily Glover, Shaun Lawrence, Thomas Minot and Tori Triegaardt.

The VILP is an extracurricular programme that involves attendance at thought-provoking seminars and speaker events, and completion of experiential activities in the wider community. It creates opportunities for international experiences and develops critical awareness and leadership skills.
