Emerald Cosplay

Dr Emerald King from the Japanese Programme will be taking part on a panel on cosplay research at the Armageddon Convention being held Queen’s Birthday weekend. Armneggedon is New Zealand’s largest entertainment expo.

As Japanese popular culture continues to grow in popularity, it has increasingly attracted scholarly and academic attention. The panel will give a brief overview of what kinds of research is being done into the global field of cosplay and how you can have your say. Emerald L King is a cosplayer, cosplay judge and cosplay/anime event organiser. After growing up in Australia, she now lectures in Japanese and Japanese popular culture at Victoria University of Wellington.
