German students honoured by Embassy of Switzerland

On Monday 28 November, the staff of the School of Languages and Cultures’ German programme were joined by a delegate from the Embassy of Switzerland to honour students who took part in this year’s Student Ambassador’s Programme.

The Student Ambassador’s Programme is an initiative started by the German programme in 2014, designed to promote German studies at Victoria to secondary students around the country.  The role of the student ambassador involves arranging visits to secondary schools, talking to prospective students about their experiences, and the opportunities and benefits of learning German, both at university and beyond.  They also participate as an advocate at on-campus events, such as the Study at Victoria Open Day, and play an integral part in the continued success of the German programme.

The Programme is generously sponsored by the Embassy of Switzerland who present all participants with the Swiss Ambassador’s Prize for Outstanding Initiative.  Congratulations and much appreciation go to the efforts of this year’s participants: Chris Archer, Bella Chisholm, Ciara Crummey, Sophie Grant, Katherine Kooistra, Jamie Morris-Slack, George Phillips, Max Pittaway, Jakob Scotts-Bahle, Keala Senek, Schyana Sivanantham and Dexter Tauvao.
