Apple and Knife Book Launch

On March 10, The NZ Festival's Writers & Readers Week, with the support of the School of Languages and Cultures, hosted the launch of Apple and Knife, a short story collection by Intan Paramaditha, translated by Stephen Epstein. Intan is an Indonesian writer now based in Sydney where she lectures in film and media studies at Macquarie University. She is the acclaimed author of the two short story collections, Sihir Perempuan (2005) and Kumpulan Budak Setan (2010, with Eka Kurniawan and Ugoran Prasad), from which the stories of Apple and Knife are drawn. Stephen is also now working on a translation of her novel Gentayangan [The Wandering: Choose Your Own Red Shoes Adventure] (2017), which won Tempo Magazine's award for the best piece of prose fiction in Indonesia for the year.
