History

New Zealand Pacific Lodge was one of the first Freemasons' lodges in New Zealand and has met regularly in Wellington since 1842. This scholarship recognises the long tradition of music in Freemasonry. New Zealand Pacific Lodge has a proud tradition dating back to its first meeting in Wellington (then Port Nicholson) in 1842. It gives generously to charity and supports many community initiatives.

The scholarship is open to current students at Victoria University of Wellington whose principal instrument is the organ, or brass and woodwind instruments, or who intend to extend their studies to include this instrument. This scholarship welcomes applications from students who can demonstrate their community service, personal development, integrity, and hard work in their studies, in the promotion of the organ, and in their personal life. Financial hardship (if applicable) will also be taken into consideration.
