These awards arise from a bequest by Mr G G G Watson, C.M.G., M.A., LL.B., a distinguished graduate of and lecturer at Victoria University College, to encourage the study of Economics.
The purpose of the awards shall be to defray the expenses of a research project in Economics for which no other funds are available.

These awards arise from a bequest by Mr G G G Watson, C.M.G., M.A., LL.B., a distinguished graduate of and lecturer at Victoria University College, to encourage the study of Economics.

1. The awards shall be known as the G G G Watson Awards in Economics.

2. The purpose of the awards shall be to defray the expenses of a research project in Economics for which no other funds are available.

3. One or more award may be made annually by the Council of the Victoria University of Wellington on the recommendation of the Chairperson of the Department of Economics.

4. The grant shall be tenable only by a candidate who is a graduate of this University or in the year of the award has been a student enrolled for the final year of a bachelor's degree.

5. The tenure of the awards shall be for up to one year and no persons shall be eligible to hold an award more than once.

6. The value of the awards shall be determined in each case by the Vice-Chancellor.

7. The awards may be held with any other bursary, scholarship, prize or similar award.

8. Payment shall be as directed by the Head of the Department of Economics.

9. The Council may withhold any payments of the award on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of Economics if a student's progress is unsatisfactory or if he/she fails to comply with the terms and conditions of the Award.

10. No application is necessary.
