Staff and former students in the Geology Programme established this prize via the Victoria University Foundation to acknowledge the work and contribution of John Gamble, Associate Professor of Geology, at Victoria University from 1980 to 2002.
One prize shall be awarded annually to a BSc (Hons), MSc or PhD student in Geology who has shown a talent for original research involving field-work and laboratory investigation, as well as an ability to inspire enthusiasm and a sense of team-spirit in their fellow students.

Information

Staff and former students in the Geology Programme have established this prize via the Victoria University Foundation to acknowledge the work and contribution of John Gamble, Associate Professor of Geology, at Victoria University from 1980 to 2002.

1. One prize shall be awarded annually to a BSc (Hons), MSc or PhD student in Geology who has shown a talent for original research involving field-work and laboratory investigation, as well as an ability to inspire enthusiasm and a sense of team-spirit in their fellow students.

2. The prize will have a value of around $300 per annum.

3. The award may be held in conjunction with other awards.

4. The successful recipient shall be selected by the Programme Director of the Geology Board of Studies (or nominee) with the advice of the relevant course coordinators.

5. The Geology Board of Studies reserves the right not to award the John Gamble Award if no suitable or deserving candidate is available in a given year.

6. Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks.
