Eligibility

Awarded at the end of the academic year for excellence in composition, the Jenny McLeod Orchestral Composition is an opportunity for a composition student - embarking on, or continuing with, postgraduate study - to compose a work for the New Zealand School of Music Orchestra or other NZSM ensemble. This work will be guaranteed a rehearsed performance the following year, as part of the normal concert programming of the relevant body.

The Jenny McLeod Orchestral Composition is an opportunity for a composition student - embarking on, or continuing with, postgraduate study - to compose a work for the New Zealand School of Music Orchestra or other NZSM ensemble.

Criteria:
1. For composition students embarking on, or continuing with, postgraduate study in composition.

2. The award is to compose work for the New Zealand School of Music at Victoria University of Wellington.

3. The award is offered to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

4. Award recipints may hold this and other awards simultaneously.

Selection Process:
1. No application is necessary.

2. The successful candidate will be chosen on the basis of the current year's overall achievement in composition.

3. The selectio panel shall consist of two full-time composers on the staff at the NZ School of Music and the Head of the School of Music (or their nominee).

Accountability:
Progress reports are required.
