Information

This prize was established by Youssef Mourra to support students completing the Workplace Communication for Skilled Migrants programme.

Youssef Mourra was born in Lebanon but raised in Australia from a young age and his family chose to actively assimilate into Western culture. This experience gave him a deep interest and great insight into migrants' experience with assimilation and separation for minorities entering new cultures. Through his work for the Rotary Club of Wellington, Youssef worked closely with the course coordinator of this programme for over 7 years to help students develop interview skills, provide mentoring and help place students in internships.

The award assists students completing the Workplace Communication for Skilled Migrants programme in transitioning from study back to work.

Selection will be made by the Director of the English Language Institute (or their nominee) in consultation with the donor and other appropriate staff.

Recipients are expected to write a letter of thanks to the donor within one month of receiving the award.
