Information
For some years Wellington School of Business and Government has supported student case competitions. Each year three or four competitions are held internally. The best performing students subsequently compete in national competitions, and an international competition held in Queenstown.
Students develop collaborative, analytical and presentation skills under intense time pressure. The judges are often the same senior members of organisations (including Deloitte, IBM, KPMG, ExportNZ, State Services Commission, and Treasury) with responsibility for hiring our graduates.
Case competitions in New Zealand are conducted under the auspices of the Student Development Society (SDS) and student-run clubs. Auckland and Otago universities have large clubs and compete in many offshore competitions. Victoria has the student-run Victoria Business Consulting (VBC) club but has yet to compete offshore.
Wellington School of Business and Government would like to support teams to attend offshore competitions by providing prizes to the top students which will contribute towards the expenses incurred.
What conditions are attached to the acceptance of this award?
Each offshore team is required to produce a report summarizing their experience along with photos which will be used for publicity purposes.
Students are expected to engage with teams from other universities, including those that already partner with Victoria.
