This prize was established by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to New Zealand in 2004, His Excellency Mr Jung-seung Shin, to encourage research and scholarship on aspects of Korean politics and international relations. One prize each may be awarded annually to the undergraduate, honours, and MA or PhD student judged to be most worthy of the award who, in the year of the award, has completed an essay or a thesis on an aspect of Korean politics or international relations.

Information

This prize was established in 2004 by the then Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to New Zealand, His Excellency Mr Jung-seung Shin, to encourage research and scholarship on aspects of Korean politics and international relations.

1. The prize shall be known as the Korean Ambassador's Prize.

2. One prize each may be awarded annually to the undergraduate, honours, and MA or PhD student judged to be most worthy of the award who, in the year of the award, has completed an essay or a thesis on an aspect of Korean politics or international relations.

3. The prize shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations in consultation with the academic staff and Head of Programme in Political Science and International Relations.

4. The name of the student awarded the prize shall be inscribed on the Honours Board at the premises of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations.

5. In further recognition of their achievement, the recipient and their tutor(s) may be invited to a simple ceremony at the Korean Embassy.
