This award arises from a bequest made by Dr Susanne Rae Walker, a graduate of Victoria University, to recognise the distinctive approach to Geography at Victoria University of Wellington, and to encourage further study in Geography.

Information

Purpose of award

Made annually to student completing an undergraduate degree with a major in Geography with the highest grade point average and who is commencing an Honours or Masters Degree in Geography, specialising in Human Geography.

Selection criteria

Judged to be of sufficient academic merit by the Programme Director Geography in consultation with the Post-graduate Programme Coordinator Geography. Preference will be given to students specialising in Human Geography.

One, with the option of more SFA.

In writing, either email or letter, in early December before the next academic year.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

Recipients will be asked to acknowledge the source of the funding in subsequent essays, theses or in research publicity.

Additional Information

No award shall be made in any year in which the Programme Director Geography and Post-graduate Programme Coordinator Geography consider there is no candidate of sufficient merit. If in any year the Prize is not awarded, the funds may be used in a subsequent year.
