This prize arises from a fund donated by the family via the Victoria University Foundation in memory of Jan Whitwell, Senior Lecturer in Economics/Money and Finance at Victoria University of Wellington, 1989 -1993. It is awarded to the best student in ECON 305 or MOFI 303.

This prize arises from a fund donated by the family via the Victoria University Foundation in memory of Jan Whitwell, Senior Lecturer in Economics/Money and Finance at Victoria University of Wellington, 1989 -1993.

1. The prize shall be known as the Jan Whitwell Prize for Monetary and Macroeconomics.

2. The prize shall be awarded annually by the Academic Board to the student enrolled in either the 300-level Macroeconomics course (currently ECON 305) or the 300-level Monetary Economics course (currently MOFI 303) who, in the opinion of the Head of School of Economics and Finance in the Faculty of Commerce and Administration, is the best student of the year and worthy of the award.

3. The value of the prize in any year shall be determined by the Victoria University Foundation after consideration of the income from the fund. The balance of income not expended shall be added to the fund.

4. On receipt of the prize, recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks which will be forwarded to the donor.
