This prize, in memory of David Payne who died while a student of Mathematics in 1980, arises from a fund subscribed to by students, staff and friends.
It is awarded to the best student in applied mathematics.
This prize in memory of David Payne who died while a student of Mathematics in 1980, arises from a fund of $500 subscribed by students, staff and friends.
1. The prize shall be known as the David Payne Memorial Prize and shall be awarded annually to the student who, in the opinion of the Head of the School, has achieved the best performance in an applied mathematics.
2. The value of the prize shall be determined by the Academic Board after consideration of the income from the fund.
3. Part of the prize money shall be spent on a book, or books.
