Information

This prize arises from a fund subscribed by students, staff, and friends of Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington to commemorate the work of Professor Robert Orr McGechan in the Chair of Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law 1940-1954.

The prize is awarded annually to the student in the Faculty of Law who is judged to have done the best work for the Victoria University of Wellington Law Review, and is worthy of the award. In special circumstances two prizes may be awarded in the one year. The award is made on the recommendation of the Dean of Law.

The value of the prize shall be determined after consideration of the income from the fund. If in any year the income from the fund or any part thereof is not expended it may be used in a subsequent year, or added to the fund.

Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks, which will be forwarded appropriately.
