This prize arises from a fund subscribed in 1946 by ex-students of the Victoria University of Wellington to commemorate the work of Professor H B Kirk in the Chair of Biology 1903-1944. It is awarded to the best student enrolled in specified 30 points of 100 level courses in Biology.

This prize arises from a fund subscribed in 1946 by ex-students of the Victoria University of Wellington to commemorate the work of Professor H B Kirk in the Chair of Biology 1903-1944.

1. The prize shall be open to any student enrolled in 30 points of 100-level courses in Biology except that this shall not include BIOL 132 and must include at least one of BIOL 113, BIOL 114.

2. The prize shall be offered annually and shall be awarded to the student who, on the report of the Head of the School of Biological Sciences, shall be judged by the Academic Board to be the best student of the year, and to be worthy of the award.

3. The value of the prize shall be determined by the Academic Board after consideration of the income from the fund. The balance of income not expended shall be added to the fund.
