Eligibility

These prizes are provided annually by the New Zealand Indonesia Association (Wellington) via the Victoria University Foundation. The prizes shall be available to NZSM student performers in the Javanese 'Padhang Moncar' and/or Balinese 'Taniwha Jaya' gamelan orchestras whom the NZSM deems to have made
1. the most outstanding contribution to gamelan playing (Javanese) at an introductory level; and
2. the most outstanding contribution to gamelan playing (Balinese) at a more advanced level.

Information

These prizes are provided by the New Zealand Indonesia Association (Wellington) every year via the Victoria University Foundation.

1. The prizes shall be known as the New Zealand Indonesia Gamelan Prizes.

2. The prizes shall be available to NZSM student performers in the Javanese 'Padhang Moncar' and/or Balinese 'Taniwha Jaya' gamelan orchestras.

3. Prize 1 shall be awarded to the student judged by the NZSM to be worthy of the award and who has made the most outstanding contribution to gamelan playing (Javanese) at an introductory level.

4. Prize 2 shall be awarded to the student who is judged by the NZSM to be worthy of the award and who has made the most outstanding contribution to gamelan playing (Balinese) at a more advanced level.

5. The prizes shall be of the value of $250 each, and shall consist of money or book or books, and a certificate to be produced by the New Zealand Indonesia Association (Wellington).

6. Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks which will be forwarded to the donor.
