The prize is offered annually and is awarded to the student completing an Honours degree in Geography or Physical Geography who, in the opinion of the Head of the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences, is the best student of the year in the course and is worthy of the prize.

The value of the prize, in any year, will be determined after consideration of the income from the fund.
