This prize arises from a fund established in 1996 by Mrs Elizabeth Garrett via the Victoria University Foundation to mark the introduction of a major in Chinese. It is awarded to the best student in CHIN312 and CHIN213 or CHIN313.

This prize arises from a fund established in 1996 by Mrs Elizabeth Garrett via the Victoria University Foundation to mark the introduction of a major in Chinese.

1. The prize shall be known as the Chinese Language and Literature Prize.

2. The prize shall be awarded annually to a student enrolled in both the Chinese language course CHIN 312 and either of the Chinese literature courses CHIN 213 or CHIN 313 and who, in the opinion of the Programme, is the best student of the year and worthy of the award.

3. The value of the prize in any year shall be determined by the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation after consideration of the income from the fund.

4. The recipient will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded to the donor.
