Information

This prize originates from residual funds from sponsorships raised by the Victoria University Foundation to support improvement in the quality of financial journalism. The Master of Applied Finance (MAF) Prize is considered to be in close sympathy with that original purpose.

The prize will be awarded to the top full-time student completing study requirements for the MAF degree in any given calendar year. Where no full-time student achieves a completion result of at least ‘Merit', then the prize may be awarded to the top student overall, who is completing MAF study requirements in a given year.

Number of awards offered
One prize will be awarded in any given calendar year. As students can potentially complete their MAF degree in any of the three trimesters, the award will be determined in late November/early December when results are known for all students completing a MAF degree.
In the unlikely event that there are two or more students topping the graduating class with the identical overall numerical completion result, then the prize may be split equally among those top students.

Value
$300 subject to available funds Decision makers

The recipients will be decided by the Director of the Victoria International Applied Finance (VIAF) Programme in consultation with the VIAF advisory committee.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
No prize will be awarded in any year in which a completion result of ‘Merit' is achieved by no graduating student.
The recipient will be expected to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded appropriately.
