The organising committee from the local chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) - consisting of executive members Maria Burns, David Cheng, Jared Cotton, Rebecca Mak and Alice Yung, with support from faculty advisor Trish Keeper - organised everything from keynote speakers, to arranging sponsorship and managing the logistics.

And after their hard work, the committee successfully pulled off the three-day conference, which attracted more than 60 BAP members from nine universities around Australia and New Zealand.

The team had secured high calibre keynote speakers including Warren Allen (XRB chief executive and member of the School of Accounting and Commercial Law Advisory Board), Tracey Bridges (co-founder of The Good Registry), Leighton Roberts (Sharesies co-founder) and Kayur Patel (transformation driver at PwC).

The team also facilitated the Deloitte Best Practices competition, which pitted university BAP teams against each other in devising and delivering strategies to improve club engagement, branding and strategic direction.

Attendees then participated in a community service event with not-for-profit Boomerang Bags, which recycles used textiles into re-useable bags.

David says the conference was a huge success, and many of the attendees commented on the insightful presentations and range of activities.

"It was challenging to organise speakers, sponsors and everything that goes into running a conference. None of us had experience organising a conference before, but we pulled it off by working as a team."

Maria and Jared were charged with ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day.

"It was definitely a challenge, but meeting and interacting with other BAP members and the positive feedback from everyone made it all worthwhile," Maria said.
