Exclusive partnership launched with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand

Wellington School of Business and Government has partnered with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) to enable Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) students to study for their Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification as part of their degree.

In an exclusive New Zealand partnership with CA ANZ, students completing an MPA can now study their CA qualification as part of their degree at no extra cost. Previously, students would have had to study for their CA qualification separately once they had finished their MPA studies.

“We’re thrilled to be furthering our ongoing relationship with CA ANZ by offering our students a unique and exclusive pathway to becoming CA qualified,” says Christopher Cripps, Director of the MPA programme in the School of Accounting and Commercial Law. “Students who complete the pathway as part of their MPA will gain a significant head start in their accounting careers.”

Students who complete the new pathway will be eligible to apply for CA ANZ membership upon successful completion of three years of approved employment in New Zealand, Australia, or other recognised global locations. They will also be able to become Provisional Members of CA ANZ during their final year of study.

“CA ANZ is thrilled to be working with Victoria University of Wellington as the exclusive New Zealand university partner for the Master of Professional Accounting CA ANZ pathway pilot,” says Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Group Executive of Education and Learning Simon Hann. “The integration of academic and professional education will help attract new people to the profession and provides a pathway for those business professionals looking for a change or to kick start their careers in accounting.”
