Postgraduate research students work under academic supervision. Read about how to find a supervisor and who to contact for help.

Research degrees require at least one academic supervisor. If you know someone you would like to work with, you may approach them directly to discuss your research project. Finding a supervisor before you apply for admission is not always necessary. The final allocation of supervisors is done by the school, according to research interests and available resourcing.

Victoria’s academic supervisors will provide specialist knowledge, oversee the steps and stages of your research and guide you through your postgraduate research degree.

Master’s thesis candidates have at least one academic supervisor, while PhD candidates have two academic supervisors.
