Current role

As a Clinical Programme Advisor, Ben coordinates and supports students in their clinical placements and internships, as well as providing clinical supervision for postgraduate clinical psychology students working in the Victoria Psychology Clinic.

Ben is a Registered Psychologist in the Clinical Psychologist Scope of Practice with the New Zealand Psychologists Board


Ben has worked as a clinical psychologist for over thirteen years, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings, including the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Massey University Student Counselling Service and in private practice.

He currently works two days per week in private practice, working mostly with adults and adolescents experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression and other life challenges. He is also the co-founder of the Wellington Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Special Interest Group and has training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Trauma Therapy.

He is the author of a book helping young people understand mental health issues, entitled Stuff that Sucks: Accepting What You Can’t Change and Committing to What You Can.
