The New Zealand School of Music — Te Kōkī at Victoria University of Wellington offers a STAR course for Year 12 and 13 students in selected instruments. The first-year university level 15-point course PERF 165 runs from March to October.

Students in this course receive ten individual lessons with University faculty staff over the course of the year, supplementary to their existing tuition. Lessons are tailored to the needs of the students, focusing on the technical foundation and repertoire that will assist them in reaching their potential and preparing them for university study. Students will also benefit from valuable extension opportunities through access to University instrumental classes and masterclasses.

See further information and contact music@vuw.ac.nz to enquire whether your instrument will be offered, and for audition and application information. Students applying via STAR for a 2024 Trimester 1 start must complete the enrolment process before 1 February 2024.
