The book, available exclusively at skydeckmusic.com, is a 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, which debuted at New York’s legendary Village Vanguard jazz club under the leadership of trumpeter Thad Jones and drummer Mel Lewis in 1966.

The book has received rave reviews, including one from Peter Hum, Canada's best known jazz critic (from the Ottawa Citizen), who also named it in his top 5 jazz books for 2017.

"Lisik, a Canadian expat, composer, trumpeter who teaches at the New Zealand School of Music, and Allen masterfully weave scads of revealing interviews, historical and contemporary photos and more into a gorgeous chronicle that thrums with jazz vitality."

Other reviews of the book have appeared in Downbeat magazine, All About Jazz, Jazziz Magazine, and Doug Ramsey's Arts Journal.
