TORU chamber group

Formed in 2015, TORU is a dynamic chamber music trio comprised of Karen Batten (flute), Sophia Acheson (viola) and Ingrid Bauer (harp).

All three musicians are well-known, experienced freelancers. Karen and Sophia hold Section Principal positions with Orchestra Wellington, work on a casual basis for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and teach. Ingrid moved from Wellington mid-2018 to take up the position of Principal Harp with the Auckland Philharmonia.

United by their love of chamber music, TORU are excited about sharing an exciting, mainly contemporary, repertoire.
