New Zealand pianist, Jason Bae was born in Daejeon, South Korea in 1991 where he began studying piano at the age of five. At the age of twelve, he made his concerto debut with Auckland Symphony Orchestra and a year later he was the youngest concerto soloist to perform with Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Since then, Jason has performed as a concerto soloist with New Zealand National Youth Symphony, Queensland Symphony Orchestra of Australia, Auckland Youth Symphony, Christchurch Symphony, Bach Musica NZ and Gooden.semble in London. As a recitalist, he has given recitals in U.K (St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James’ Piccadilly, Steinway Hall) U.S.A (Carnegie Hall), Finland (Steinway Piano Gallery Helsinki), France, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea (Cosmos Hall Seoul), Australia and New Zealand (Auckland Town Hall, The Piano Christchurch, St. Andrews on the Terrace Wellington).
Jason received his Master of Arts in piano performance with the highest distinction award, 'DipRAM' at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the tutelage of Christopher Elton and Joanna MacGregor in 2015.
After just four years since Jason became the first New Zealander ‘Young Steinway Artist’ at the age of 20, he became ‘Steinway Artist’ in 2016. In 2015, Jason became the first South Korea-born New Zealander Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society awarded by the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.
