Challenges of marketing in uncertain times to be explored at conference

Marketing practitioners and researchers from Australia and New Zealand will hear from leading experts at the Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) conference in Wellington next month.

The annual ANZMAC conference, hosted this year by Victoria University of Wellington’s School of Marketing and International Business, is a leading source of marketing information, knowledge and research development for both practitioners and researchers.

Speakers at the conference this year include Professor John Deighton, the Harold M. Brierley Professor of Business Administration Emeritus at Harvard Business School; Dr Russel Norman, Executive Director of Greenpeace New Zealand and former co-leader of the New Zealand Green Party; and Professor Connie Pechmann, Professor of Marketing at University of California Irvine.

“We are in a world of technological, social and political turbulence, challenging marketers to produce robust and actionable research,” says Head of the School of Marketing and International Business Associate Professor Val Hooper. “The theme for this year’s ANZMAC conference, Winds of Change, challenges marketers to address global issues such as these and to push the boundaries for marketing in disruptive and uncertain times.”

Topics explored at the conference will range from business to business marketing and consumer behaviour to crisis communications in the public sector and sustainability in marketing.

“The range of topics explored will challenge practitioners and researchers alike to think differently and to develop new ideas and approaches in their marketing research and practice,” says Professor Hooper.
