New Clubs space officially open

The University’s new Clubs space was officially declared open on Thursday 18 July by Vice-Chancellor Professor Grant Guilford.

The Vice-Chancellor noted: “this new space is an important step in recognising that student club leaders need a central space to connect with each other and seek support.”

Newly located in the former ANZ bank, in SU401, the Clubs team are now easier for students to find, and will be running drop-in hours of 10 am–2 pm daily, with Clubs staff on hand to link students to clubs, and work closely with clubs leaders for a more connected community.

Attended by VUWSA CEO Matt Tucker and representatives, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Maori Rawinia Higgins, Chief Operating Officer Mark Loveard, Joint Student Union Board members, and Clubs Council Members and all staff involved in the move, Professor Guilford acknowledged the pan-University team that made it happen including the Victoria Recreation team, “who provide the resources, support and encouragement for our many clubs, teams, groups and societies.” He also emphasised, “the University's clubs and societies are driven by students. The University can support that with resources and facilities such as this.”
