Alumnus offers business scholarship

A company co-founded by Victoria University of Wellington alumnus Franz Ombler, who studied Philosophy and Political Science, is offering a $2000 scholarship to female secondary school and university students who want to start their own online business.

The #BeTheBoss scholarship is run by GoSkills.com, and is designed to encourage young women to have a go at starting their own business. Co-founded by alumnus Franz Ombler and business partner Bhanveet Chahal, GoSkills.com is an online learning company that offers personalised courses for professionals.

Applicants enter the scholarship by submitting a business plan for an original start-up. The most recent scholarship recipient is a company called Pepper, which is an e-commerce company that makes better fitting apparel for small-chested women.

The scholarship is offered twice a year, and the deadlines for applications are 15 September 2018 and 15 March 2019.
