Mahitahi — Te Wiki o te Reo Māori ki Te Pūtahi Reo

Pōhiritia te hapa – permit yourself to make mistakes! – this learning tip for making te reo Māori kaha [strong] in the everyday lives of all Kiwis was just one of many which students and staff shared on the windows of the LLC’s Self-access Library Te Pātaka Reo during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2018.

Another one was the concept of mahitahi, the idea that only by working together as one and amplifying each other’s efforts will we achieve significant things in our community – such as revitalising and normalizing te reo in everyday contexts. Besides Victoria University students and staff, the event caught the attention of a journalism student at Whitireia Polytechnic, Bonnie Mosen, who contacted LLC staff and interviewed us about the event. You can find her interview here. And as for all the other suggestions? Let them kōrero for themselves...
