Yvette Tinsley's teaching and research interests are primarily in criminal law and justice, evidence, and law and forensic science. She previously worked at the University of Birmingham in the UK, where she also studied law and politics at undergraduate level, and gained her PhD in law. Yvette was one of the primary researchers involved in juries research published by the New Zealand Law Commission, the results of which have received international recognition. Recent research includes a review of maximum penalties and Law Foundation funded research on pre-trial and trial processes for sexual violence offences.
