Victoria’s Law School jumps eight places in international rankings
Victoria University of Wellington’s Faculty of Law has improved further on last year’s already strong result in the 2018 QS World University Rankings by Subject, released today.
Law at Victoria is ranked in the top 40, at number 38, up eight places from 2017’s result of 46.
In addition, Victoria’s Faculty of Law is the number one ranked law school in New Zealand for research quality, according to the most recent PBRF (Performance Based Research Fund) Quality Evaluation.
Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Law Professor Mark Hickford says the latest QS ranking is something staff, students and alumni should all be proud of. “This result reflects the talent and energy of our academic staff, who are producing outstanding legal scholarship across a broad range of areas. It’s also an endorsement of the quality of the education on offer at Victoria’s Law School, and the calibre of our graduates.”
Professor Hickford says that students at Victoria’s Law School learn from teachers who are actively engaged in world-leading research, and enjoy access to an international network. “They’re benefiting from a virtuous circle of up-to-the-minute research, top-quality teaching and the opportunity to engage with some of the world’s leading legal thinkers.”
